Hi everyone! For all of you lucky people who have the day off today I hope you’re relaxing and have not gotten out of your pajamas today. For all those like me who have work today, well I feel ya! Today is turning out to be a busier day than I expected but if I have to work it might as well be busy!
So most of you know by now that I’m a marathon runner getting ready to begin training for the Nashville Half Marathon in April. In order to get ready for my race I began working with a running coach but recently parted ways as we couldn’t see eye to eye on programming. Anyway, with the high milage and frequency I began to develop some quad and hip flexor pain. To let my body heal I took a week off of running which helped but still not at 100%. After watching a segment on SportsCenter about athletes doing cryotheraphy to help with the muscular healing progress I decided I wanted to give it a try!
Yesterday my sister and I went to on Long Island to check out the hype about cryotheraphy. If you’re not familiar with cryotheraphy it’s basically a cold sauna chamber where the temperature falls -220 degrees. Now you may be asking yourself why would anybody do that. I thought the same thing until I found out about the benefits which include:
- Weight loss-burn up to 1000 calories per session
- Tightens, tones and smoothes skin for a more youthful complexion
- Improves or eliminates acne, psoriasis and other skin conditions
- Increases collagen production
- Cellulite reduction
- Fuller, thicker hair
- Weight loss
- Help with;
- Joint pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Back pain
- Chronic pain
- Sleep disorders
- Increases energy levels
- Sleep deeper
- Boosts immune system
- Increases metabolism
- Improves performance
- Reduces inflammation
- Reduces muscle soreness
- Recover faster
- Train harder and stronger
The main reason why I wanted to hop into the cryotheraphy chamber was to help with join pain, reduce inflammation, reduce muscled soreness, recover faster and improve athletic performance. If two minutes in sub freezing temperatures help me cure all these problems well it was worth it!
The process was quick and simple. I stripped down to my bra and undies, put on long socks, crocks and gloves (which they provided) and got submerged in the chamber. I made sure to keep myself clam so my body wouldn’t tense up and go into defense mode. Surprisingly the two minutes went by super fast and I really wasn’t that cold! By the last 3o seconds my thighs were beginning to feel it but thats about it! Luckuily my sister was there to capture the moment!
Next up was my sister’s turn and she handled it just as well as I did. She’s a baby about the cold so if she could handle it then anyone could!
Once I got out of the chamber and the blood flow began to circulate my body felt amazing! I had a rush of endorphins and instant boost of energy. I liked it so much that I ended up buying a 3 pack! I’m already looking forward to my next session. Dies geschah, um diese magnesiumsalze von der schwarzen magnesia, dem braunstein zu unterscheiden, facharbeit schreiben lassen der auch magnesia nigra genannt wurde. This week will be the true test to see how my body feels during my runs and if this cryotheraphy really worked. All I know is for now that I truly enjoyed it and it wasn’t as bad as I expected!
Question of the Day
Would you try cryotheraphy?
Be the strongest you. .
